The WrIte Story: for children in groups of 30 – 300

I first created this program to help my son grasp the idea of pretending. He was still learning to talk again (after 2 ½ years of near-silence). When I shared story he wrote (at five years old) with his classmates they all wanted to write their own! Since 2004 I have taught over 6,000 children to write and illustrate a complete 16 page book.

Most of the children I teach have a special need – mental, physical, emotional and / or financial. I believe that each child deserves the same opportunities to learn and grow!

The Workshop Includes:

Penguin Particulars – a 45 minute educational presentation that teaches children to embrace diversity and learn fascinating facts about all 17 species! Which penguin is most like you?
Setting, Situation and Solution: the basic steps to writing a children’s picture book, are thoroughly defined as we write and illustrate an entire 16 page book together!
ALL children are able to take their completed book home that day!
ALL receive an 8 ½ x 11 hardcover copy of my book When I Was a Little Boy, by Jesus (illustrated by children ages 4 – 11)! EVVY winner!
ALL receive a published author & illustrator award!

This program is very dear to my heart. When my son wrote his first book other children began to look at him differently. He looked at himself differently.

When a child feels successful and is recognized for doing something creative they strive to achieve even greater things. It is my goal to turn these incredibly awesome and very educational stories into a childrens video series. Proceeds would go to build Creative Cranium Centers ® where children of any ability level can come and become an expert in an art field.
