GSE, or Grapefruit Seed Extract has been around and used worldwide for over 25 years.
Grapefruit Seed Extract was originally developed by German physicist Jacob Harich in 1972. After moving to the United States in 1957 Harich focused his studies on the grapefruit seed extract and he was able to demonstrate its abilities to protect produce, fish, and poultry from bacteria, fungi, and parasites. The extract he obtained was effectively used to prevent the growth of mold on fruits and vegetables.
Soon farmers were using the grapefruit seed extract to prevent mold growth on their equipment. Even cosmetic companies used grapefruit seed extract as a natural preservative.
Grapefruit Seed Extract has been used as a dietary supplement since the 1980s because of the naturally occurring infection-fighting properties known as proanthocyanidins. As its use became even more accepted, it was learned that grapefruit seed extract can be used to control viruses in humans.
Even the flu virus has reportedly been effectively helped by using
grapefruit seed extract. Additional ailments treated with grapefruit seed extract include strep throat, staph infections, salmonella poisoning, salmonella, herpes simplex viruses and many more.
A few ways that I personally use grapefruit seed extract:
* 3 – 5 drops in a glass of orange juice, 1 or 2 times a day at the first sign of feeling “under the weather.”
* 3 -5 drops in 1/2 cup of warm water, gargle several times a day to ease the symptoms of a sore throat.
* 4 – 6 drops to every gallon of water added to my humidifier. I have NO mold growth!
* 20 drops in a sink full of cold water, to cleanse fruits and vegetables of toxins and pests (especially the LIVE, crawling ones!). Soak produce in water for 3 minutes.
* 60 drops in a 1-quart spray bottle filled with water, to cleanse and sanitize counter tops, tables, windows, bed frames, bathrooms and so much more!
The possibilities are virtually endless. When you purchase a bottle you should see a list of recommended uses. One little bottle will most likely last you for a few years.
If YOU have a use for grapefruit seed extract that I haven’t listed I would love to share it with others.
To your health!

Did you know that grapefruit seed extract can also be used for ear infections? My homeopathic doctor shared this little trick with me:
Add 3-5 drops to 1 oz of alcohol. Drop 2 – 3 drops into ear as often as needed. This method has stopped many ear infections in my household!

I have heard that grapefruit seed extract is also good for dry scalps and even dandruff. I think you can just add a few drops in with shampoo but never touch it directly to skin. ~ Monica

I actually tried this myself as a cleanser a few years ago and liked that it cleaned without leaving behind an odor. This a terrific blog article. You only need to include where to order it. Thanks Rhonda

My mother who has chronic fatigue syndrome uses grapefruit seed extract for practically everything. I don’t think that there is anything it can’t be used for. She even uses it to get stains out of clothes. I’m pretty sure she adds about a tablespoon of grapefruit seed extract to a cup of water and uses that as her spray and wash. You should try it.

Can this be used by people with citrus allergies? I want to try it for my chronic sore throat but I’m really allergic to citrus fruits. Thank you, Corrin

OMG!!! I’ve been searching everywhere for something natural to give my family for flu symptoms. I’m going to try this today if I can find it at Wholefoods.

Just thought I’d share that the notorious Tamaflu is a joke! My niece got sicker after taking that poison than she was with the flu. H1N1 is JUST another flu strain. People – wake up and realize what is going on, will you? The only reason anyone should panic is if they are ill-advised or ill-informed. Sites like this should be bookmarked, read and shared with others. Thank you, sweet Rhonda.

Great information. Glad I found your site Rhonda. I’m also gluten free and reacted to immunizations when I was a kid. I was labeled ADD and wonder if there is a connection. The diet seems to help and your recipes are awesome. I am thinking about trying that glutathione supplement you recommend.
–Hi Annmarie. I’m glad to be able to help you! The glutathione supplement is THE answer for us and you can’t be too healthy, in my opinion. MaxGxl removes the toxins from your system and boosts the body’s ability to work at it’s optimum level. There are NO side affects because it’s totally natural and you can’t help but feel better. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
