Our Autism Story

OUR AUTISM STORY
OUR AUTISM STORY began in 2001… My son Tanner was nearly two years old. He had changed from a happy-go-lucky talkative boy to a sullen child that I didn’t understand. He quit talking, he quit sleeping, he even quit eating the foods he once loved. I honestly didn’t even know the little boy who had taken over the body of my son… I took my darling son (now fully possessed by the personality of another child) to 18 doctors over the next two years. I honestly thought he needed to be seen by someone who specialized in disorders of this nature – whatever it was. Not one single doctor gave me hope. I returned to our pediatrician, desperate and confused. He was the only doctor who listened to me. Because I believed that my son had possibly reacted to vaccinations, I asked him to perform a DNA analysis because I believed that there was a genetic link of some kind that caused him to react so severely. He asked me for a three-generational family history of “Blood, Brain, Mental and Emotional disorders.” He also recommended that we include a heavy metal testing. My doctor and I were both completely shocked by the results. My son's 15th chromosome had a mutation - caused by the mercury levels in his blood. Mercury is able to break through cell walls and his levels were over 250 X the ‘safe’ level. As much as I initially wanted to blame the big pharmas of the world, I learned that they didn’t intend for this to happen. Unfortunately, immunizations contain a large number of toxic chemicals and my son’s system, like many other children, was not able to eliminate them properly. Autism Rates, for the record: In 1984, one out of every 15,000 children being born was being diagnosed with a form of Autism. In 1994 one out of every 1,500 children being born was being diagnosed with a form of Autism. In 2004, one out of every 150 children being born was being diagnosed with a form of Autism. In 2008, the CDC determined that one out of every 88 was being diagnosed with a form of Autism. It should be noted that these numbers were not released until March, 2012. Today, estimates are that one in every 15 will be diagnosed with a form of Autism Vaccines are not the only trigger that can cause autism or another auto immune disorder to develop. The toxic world we are living in is affecting all of us - especially the young, the old and those with weak immune systems. Toxic ingredients and live viruses in immunizations are … Read the Whole Story . . .
Beyond The Spectrum Interviews
BEYOND The SPECTRUM Interviews
I would like to introduce my new column, Beyond the Spectrum. A few years back I wrote a column by the same name for the Autism at Home Series. I loved the name of my column and loved what it stood for so much that I decided to use it once again. Beyond the Spectrum, to me, signifies that which is beyond the black and white that forms an image in our minds when we see hear about, read about or meet a person with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Is it fear, intrigue, pity, awe, repulsion, admiration, anger, delight, sorrow… like a flash on lightening the emotions can strike without warning. The moment when I first heard ‘the’ diagnosis my emotions shuddered. My mind – too befuddled to put a logical sentence together – shut down momentarily. I had the sinking feeling that catapulting into a brick wall at full speed might have hurt less. The words, your son… “Fits into the autistic spectrum disorder” swam around my head. The words autism and disorder began to two-step across my eyes and blurred my vision. Some creative stroke of genius began to paint Dustin Hoffman’s face all over the face of my son. What was I going to do? I had no experience with autism. I didn’t know anyone with autism and I had no reference from which to base an opinion or form a reply. I wanted to hit that doctor. I wanted it to be her fault and I wanted her to give me a prescription that would fix his pain, stop his tantrums and start his darling little voice back. The only … Read the Whole Story . . .
