Autism… a misunderstood and confusing situation to say the very least. When my son digressed into a world that I knew absolutely nothing about I was determined to find a way to bring him back home.
When twenty hours turned into 50 hours I began logging my time. After 1,000 hours turned into 7,000 hours I began to share what I had learned and how my son had improved with a natural approach. My books, teaching programs for children and educational programs for adults were all first inspired by helping my son. A game I created taught him to verbalize what he could visualize and was the first real ‘breakthrough’ after he had been virtually non-verbal from nearly two until he was four and one-half.
To him to develop his imagination I helped him to write his first fictional story when he was five. “Tanner’s Camel” is a real story with a real message. He has since written three more stories. We are planning to publish his first story soon.
After I shared Tanner’s first story with his classmates they all wanted to write a story, too! To date, I have taught nearly 6,000 children (most with special abilities) to write a complete 16-page story! They ALL keep the real book and an award that they can frame! Plans are in the works to turn these amazing stories into a children’s video series!
